The textile machinery industry requires substantial investments in research, a deep know-how, a long  experience in textile, mechanics and electronics: as a consequence, the countries with a production of a high technological level are not many.

Today, Italy is the third largest producer in the world of textile machinery and the technological level of its production is considered, by its competitors, of the highest standard.

Drivers

The project "Sustainable Technologies" organized by ACIMIT aims to develop some themes considered key points for the industry, in a perspective of ecosustainable development. In fact, the project  promotes issues related to the intelligent management of energy, water resources and chemicals in textile machines.

Research in the field of textile never stops. The last frontier is nanotechnology using silver nanostructured microparticles. Applied to the sportswear sector, this technique eliminates bacteria together with odors.
All this without the use of polluting chemical bactericides that are potentially toxic to the body and without requiring aggressive cleaning agents for the skin and the environment.

Besides natural raw material like cotton, linen, hemp, jute, silk and wool, ecological clothing also reflects characteristics related to dyes, that are not synthetic or pollutants, to the type of machining and finishing. Moreover, it can come from recycled material and from local artisan production, which have  less impact on the environment. (Italian newspaper “Corriere della Sera” of 03.02.2012).
